OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF OUR YOUTH...

“Before I met Rayna I felt bad about myself.  I was really nervous when meeting new people, and didn’t know how to act.  I worried about saying the wrong things and that people wouldn’t like me.  I also thought that I hurt peoples feeling when I didn’t act proper.  Sometimes I wouldn’t answer questions or I would turn around when I was spoken to.

After I met Rayna she taught me the importance of body language, how to make eye contact and how to use a louder voice.  We went people watching at the mall and saw different body language, I also practiced asking for things in a shop, which I found hard to do. Rayna gave me business cards to help with conversation and I was able to practice with my family.  We also talked a lot about all the things that I was good at.  I am able to talk to adults much better now and I don’t feel as awkward. I try to remember the tips that Rayna taught me when I’m meeting new people.

The things I did with her were like fun activities; we built things out of Lego, practiced conversation and asking each other questions, watched different videos, made posters and went shopping.  I always like going to see Rayna, sometimes I would get homework but it wasn’t very hard.

Now I feel much better about myself and I know that I’m good at a lot of things.”
